Must do  in La Fortuna

Visit the Arenal Volcano

Arenal is, in our opinion, Costa Rica’s most spectacular volcano. Standing at a lofty 1,633 meters (5,358 feet), this cone-shaped giant can be seen for miles around, but it’s worth the effort to get a closer look. Two of the best options for hiking are Arenal Volcano National Park and Arenal Eco Park a private park where you can enjoy two different naturalist trails and swim in a volcanic lagoon while you enjoy amazing volcano views after walking on the old lava flows from prior eruptions.

Relax in a Hot Spring

The other attraction that you don’t want to miss is La Fortuna’s hot springs. These are naturally heated by the volcano’s thermal energy. For the whole experience, head to one of the resorts like Tabacon or EcoTermales where you can soak in luxurious gardens. Or if you don’t mind a more rustic setting, visit the river across from the Tabacon to soak in the beautiful natural surroundings for free.

Swim in La Fortuna waterfall

This 70-meter (230-foot) waterfall is one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica and one of the top attractions in the Arenal area. It’s visited by 100,000 people a year, according to its website.Just 5.5 km southwest of La Fortuna, it’s easy to get to on a road that’s only partly paved but in pretty good condition.

Take a Volcanic Mud bath

Enjoy an outdoor Spa experience at the foot of the Arenal Volcano.  Find yourself in a relaxing healing therapy.
